I’m a qualified counsellor who has trained in the therapeutic use of Person-Centred Creative Arts.
Clients have found that art can be a really helpful therapy tool to explore issues and gain insights – and you don't need to be 'good at art' to work with it.

About me

I'm a professionally-qualified counsellor and creative arts counsellor. Before training in this area, I’ve practised as a designer for many years. With this background, I'm able to draw on a unique skill set to offer my clients non-verbal ways of working together as well as talk therapy.

My approach

My way of working is focused on helping you to find what you need, rather than a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach.

I work in a Person-Centred way. This means that I see each person as having their own unique identity and life experiences. I believe that we are experts of our own lives, and I see my role as a facilitator who can encourage and support you to find solutions that will work for your situation.

For many people it can be helpful to talk through issues in a confidential space with an objective and non-judgemental listener.

Some of my clients have found it really useful to express themselves and to explore issues using a combination of talking and non-verbal art tools. Art and drawing have often helped provide insights, and to give problems a visible form.

I’m a general counsellor who has been trained to work using an Integrative approach. This means that I’ve learned skills from different therapy modalities and can work using two or more approaches. These benefits ensure my approach is responsive and tailored to individual needs, interests and treatment preferences.

Clients have described my approach as 'calm', 'non-judgemental' and 'encouraging'. I'm passionate about helping people to express themselves and their needs, to be seen and heard, and to live life courageously.

Frequently asked questions

What is a counsellor, and what does a counsellor do?

The Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) describes professional counselling as:

‘A safe and confidential collaboration between qualified counsellors and clients to promote mental health and wellbeing, enhance self-understanding, and resolve identified concerns.

Clients are active participants in the counselling process at every stage.

Counselling may be short term, long term, or over a lifetime, according to clients’ needs.

Changes facilitated by counselling include: change in perspective, new insight, new ways of thinking about situations, new awareness of feelings, enhanced capacity to tolerate and regulate feelings, new actions or behaviours, and new decisions about life.’

Some of the issues I help clients explore include: aspects of identity, spirituality, relationships with self and others, past experiences, grief and loss, depression, and anxiety.

How long is a counselling session?

A standard session is 60 minutes.
A first session often takes a little longer because it involves gathering some background information about you.

What are your fees?

  • First session: $120

  • Standard session: $95

  • Concession rates are available – depending on your current situation
(e.g., if you’re currently not working, are a senior, or a student).

Do you offer In-PERSON sessions?

No, I currently work online only.

How many sessions will I need?

This will vary depending on your needs and situation, and is something that we discuss at the end of the first session. There's no one-size-fits all – it's different for each person.
